When we begin our belly dance journey, we often spend time learning isolations, focusing on separating our body parts.

Our arms can feel like an afterthought, disconnected from what the rest of our body is doing.

Once we realize the impact our arms have, it takes time and dedicated effort to refine the shapes, learn popular arm paths, figure out when and how to move them. At this point, they are perhaps still a separate entity from the rest of our body.

The key to taking our dance from awkward or unpolished to elevated and elegant is re-integrating our arms into our full-body movement.

In Golden Arms, I’ll share my signature techniques for creating fluid movement and elegant shapes. Yes, you CAN banish listless arms, shrugging shoulders, and floppy wrists.

We’ll explore arm paths that help to make the dancing of Katy, Taheya, Samia and Nadia so intriguing.

But it doesn’t stop there.

You’ll learn how to re-integrate your arms into your dancing, making them a seamless part of your full-body movement.

Attain elegant and confident arm movements through this unique Golden Arms workshop. Learn actionable techniques, expressive arm paths, and specific methods for re-integrating our arms into our dancing.

When our arms the last element that we focus on, they can seem like a separate entity, creating static frames that can be a distraction from our torso movements.

When our arms reflect our body movements as a part of the whole, they elevate our entire being, leading to more confident, expressive, and polished performance.

We’ll put this all into action by learning an extended combination that enables you to practice all of these elements with deliberate consideration for musicality, presentation, and interaction with your potential audience.

We’ll also warm-up and cool down with exercises that are relevant to our Golden Arms techniques.

You can choose just the workshop — or you can upgrade to the VIP package to get personal feedback and an additional live (and recorded) group coaching session.

You’ll receive personal audio feedback via a private recording (digital, of course, not on a cassette tape!) to help you implement the techniques and accelerate your growth as a dancer.

Your questions can be answered by email or live during the group coaching session.

The Group Coaching Session

The group coaching session takes place four weeks after the workshop.

We’ll revisit the combination as a jumping-off point, and address your questions as well as global observations made by Rosa during the video reviews.

This enables you to benefit from new insights into the workshop material and put your personal feedback into action.

Can’t attend live? Submit your questions in advance! All students will receive lifetime access to the replay.

Hi, I’m Rosa!

I founded Grace Academy to help dancers take their places on stage — and in the world.

I’m based in Portland, Maine, where I have been teaching dance to adults for close to two decades. Ballet has been a beloved part of my life since childhood. Belly dance changed everything about how I relate to dance, to learning, and to my own body when I took my first class shortly after college.

Making culturally-aligned choices in raqs sharqi is one of the most challenging and fulfilling experiences for this ballet-trained artist. Re-learning approaches to movement, presentation, connection, and so much more, ingrained over many years, takes curiosity and engagement and the understanding that this journey never ends.
